During a shopping excursion in the Altrarno, Florence, Italy. I happened to mention to the shopkeeper an interest in finding some coral stones. Minutes later I had a hastily scribbled note in hand, a treasure map of sorts which led to a workshop tucked behind the world famous Ponte Vecchio. After some discussion with the owner, he called a source, and the next day displayed in front of me was a tray of vibrant saturated red-orange stones. I chose two beautiful ovals. This year I finally gave them a proper setting in 18K.
Loves first sigh is wisdom's last... As a metalsmith/jewelry maker, I lose all sense of reason when it comes to gems and gold, which seems to be the definition of love. I think there's nothing better than the rush of watching the solder flow...a new piece being created...and seeing someone wear a finished piece! This blog is my space to display some of my work, and sprinkle in dispatches from another big passion in my life - wine. Enjoy!
